MauryIAS

For UPSC Prelims

Prelims is a skills test. Train the skills.

Everyone in the hall has read the same books. The paper separates them on what they can do with a question in ninety seconds: recall what matters, strike what is wrong, spot the trap, connect two subjects, and stay calm when they are not sure. MauryIAS is built to practise exactly those five.

The real test

What the paper really asks

A Prelims question rarely asks whether you know a fact. It gives you four options that are all nearly right and asks whether you can tell them apart, under time, with negative marking waiting. That is a skill, and skills grow with practice, not with another reading.

Five skills, each with its own practice

1 · Active recall

Pull it from memory, do not re-read it

Reading feels like learning because the page is in front of you. Recall is what the hall tests. Every fact you have covered comes back as a question at the moment you are about to forget it, spaced further apart as you hold it. Five minutes a day, decided by the schedule, not by mood.

In the app: Drill and Smriti.

2 · Eliminating options

Reach the answer by striking what cannot be true

Most Prelims questions are solved from the options, not from the stem. The elimination ladder gives you one clue at a time and asks you to strike one option for each. A wrong strike tells you which two things you confuse, and the app keeps that pair and brings it back as a duel.

In the app: Elimination ladders and Interference duels.

3 · Recognising the pattern

Learn the six ways a true statement is made false

The paper has a small repertoire of traps: the adjacent year, the sister body, an "only" or an "all" slipped in, a cause and effect reversed, a scope inflated. Spot the error hides two to four of them in a paragraph and asks you to find them. Matsya Bhed shows you near-misses at speed. After a few hundred, you see the move before you read the sentence.

In the app: Spot the error, Matsya Bhed and the Slips book.

4 · Thinking across the syllabus

Connect polity to history to geography to economy

The questions that trip most people sit between subjects: a monsoon fact that is really an economy question, an article that is really a history one. The roundtables tell one causally linked story across subjects, with an expert for each, and every note in the app underlines the words that lead to another subject.

In the app: Anubhava Mantapa roundtables and cross-subject notes.

5 · Temperament

Know when to attempt and when to leave it

Negative marking makes attempting a decision, not a reflex. Before every answer in Prove you say how sure you are: skip, guess, likely or sure. Over weeks the app shows you how your confidence lines up with your results, so you learn to trust the right feeling and leave the wrong one alone.

In the app: Prove with confidence stakes and the calibration readout.
